Sometimes you need to renovate an area, but you may not know exactly what you’re getting into until you arrive onsite.
Someone needs to be there to verify existing conditions before the crew jumps in. Performing this manually would be a tedious and lengthy process, but with 3D laser scanning, the task is much more efficient.
When you arrive onsite, it’s easy to collect data by using a 3D scanner to scan retrofits, generate a point cloud, and export to most CAD modelling programs. Once the 3D model is imported into the software, a point cloud can be imported and used during the 3D coordination process for clash/collision detection and reporting. This way, you can detect any collisions before your crew starts tearing things apart; and the benefits go beyond identifying issues.
