Need to Know: Exciting 2018 Green Construction Predictions

November 8, 2017 Sarah Lorek

As the demand for new buildings reaches an all-time high, so does the need for green construction.

According to the 2015 Green Building Impact Study by the USGBC, “by 2018, green construction will directly contribute to 1.1 million jobs. Of that, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) will be responsible for directly contributing to 386,000 jobs.” If that isn’t compelling enough, the “SmartMarket Report” by Dodge Data & Analytics claims that the ongoing demand for green buildings is driven by many factors, with “Client Demands” noted as the #1 reason for most countries. Other reasons include:

  • Environmental Regulations
  • Market Demands
  • “Right Thing to Do”
  • Lower Operating Costs
  • Healthier Neighborhoods
  • Market Transformation
  • Internal Corporate Commitment
  • Higher Building Values
  • Branding/Public Relations

Whether you’re thinking about implementing green construction methods, or you’re just curious as to how this will affect your business, take a look at the predictions for 2018. You might be surprised by what you discover.
